Week 18 SLEEPERS and STUDS
by Scott Levy
With only a few more weeks left of the Canadian Football League season, the fantasy playoffs are underway. This list consists of the players I believe are going to be number one at their position and the one sleeper pick that I have for the week.
MIKE REILLY, Edmonton Eskimos
Coming off of a 346 yard, 2 touchdown game against Montreal, Reilly and the Eskimos are set again to play the BC Lions on Saturday night. Although BC has ranked third in fantasy points against for a quarterback, Reilly was able to throw for 300 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for one touchdown in their week 14 match up. I see Reilly throwing for 325 and reaching the end zone three times this week against the Lions.
JEREMIAH MASOLI, Hamilton Tiger-Cats
With Zach Collaros ruled out for Friday, Jeremiah Masoli will get his second straight start at quarterback for the Tiger-Cats. Surprisingly enough, the Redblacks are the second worst defense against quarterbacks of all the teams playing this week. The Tiger-Cats lost by one point last week, but it showed that Masoli is a valuable fantasy quarterback after throwing for three touchdowns. This week he should have the Redblacks number again in what should be a close match up.
JOHN WHITE, Edmonton Eskimos
Pick a defense, any defense, John White is so hot running the ball these past two weeks that not one team in the CFL can stop him. Although Shakir Bell was named the starting running back, his injury gave White a second chance where he excelled taking 19 carries for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns including 5 catches out of the backfield. If Bell does return for this game, I do not see White losing any early down carries.
JOE MCKNIGHT,Saskatchewan Roughriders
Once the starting Running Back for the New York Jets and USC star, McKnight is starting to find his fit with the Saskatchewan Roughriders after being named the starting running back in week 17. He showed speed and quickness turning his 17 carries into 150 yards. I see him keep rolling this week while also adding a touchdown to his stat category.
ADARIUS BOWMAN, Edmonton Eskimos
Adarius Bowman is not the most talented Wide Receiver in the league but when Matt Reilly is throwing you the ball, Bowman is a must start player for any fantasy team. He caught 6 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in week 14 against the Lions. He leads the league in receptions and yards and is poised to have a 20 plus point game every week.
TERRELL SINKFIELD, JR., B.C. Lions
After Bowman, Walker, and Arceneaux, the Wide Receivers playing this week are mostly a hit or miss. Terrell Sinkfield Jr. is the player I am going to go with this week. Coming off of a 1,000 yard season, Sinkfield was named a starter three days after signing with the team. He only has nine receptions on the season but his big play ability is worth the sleeper pick of the week. He tops one hundred yards and scores a touchdown this week.
